Budget airlines may have a competitive edge over their flag counterparts in terms of pricing, but that doesn’t mean they have it easier when it comes to selling themselves online.

In the second part of our blog series on Southeast Asia’s leading airlines on social media, we look at how low cost carriers in the region use it to their advantage.

From November to December 2015, we put our social media monitoring and analytics tools, Digimind Social and Digimind Social Analytics to work monitoring the social media channels of 7 major low cost carriers that fly to and from destinations throughout Southeast Asia, not just domestically.


  • AirAsia has the biggest combined following across their social media channels, at over 5 million
  • Instagram is the most engaged platform for Scoot, Tiger, and SilkAir
