Digimind Asks: What's next for Wildfire users?

Google announced last Thursday that it had stopped customer acquisition and feature development for its popular Wildfire service. By integrating some of its functionality into its existing AdWords, DoubleClick and Analytics platforms, it appears Wildfire is slowly winding down. Wildfire customers (including Amazon, Virgin, Cirque du Soleil, Spotify, Cisco, Gap and ad agency McCann) have been informed that services will cease towards the end of 2015. Where will they turn to next for their social media marketing needs?

What does Wildfire offer?

The social media marketing company was purchased in 2012 for $350 million, with Google looking to cash in on the surge in Facebook advertising by offering detailed analytics and marketing automation processes for advertisers and salespeople. In addition to providing insights on Facebook's advertising processes, the service handles and analyses consumer data across Google+, Pinterest and Twitter. The platform allows users to manage and publish content - including pages, apps, ads, tweets, videos and sponsorships.

What's next for Wildfire users?

Chances are Wildfire's users are already actively looking for a replacement tool that will enable them to monitor and strategise on social media. Depending on the functionality they are looking for, some users are likely to migrate to real-time publishing platforms like HootSuite, or upgrade their usage of the tool if they are already subscribers. Clients primarily interested in the Wildfire's marketing automation functionality may turn to solutions like Act-On and Hubspot to effectively manage incoming business.

But what if, as a Wildfire client, you need a fully-fledged social media monitoring tool? What if you want to listen to customers, analyse them, engage with them directly and generate detailed reports on a daily basis? What if you need to find and respond to very precise information very quickly?

Perhaps we can help out. Enter Digimind Social, a tool which cuts through the noise to empower brands to drive successful social media strategies.
